Multi-objective optimization of organic Rankine cycle systems considering their dynamic performance

The Organic Rankine cycle system is a well-established technology for converting the waste heat from internal combustion engines into mechanical or electrical power. For vehicle, due to engine load changes during driving cycle, mass flow rate and temperature of fluctuate rapidly over broad range. This poses high requirements control organic unit, in order ensure safety, efficiency, compactness long component lifetime. paper presents novel design method systems subject highly fluctuating sources, ensuring safe efficient operation. An integral optimization code developed MATLAB®/Simulink® combining thermodynamic evaporator with dynamic simulation model presented. multi-objective maximizes net power output heavy-duty truck, while minimizing evaporator. results indicate that, operation, degree superheating working fluid as well exhaust gas leaving at conditions should be higher than what classical steady-state analyses suggest.
